FINDING AN ANCHOR

amidst the storm

Life isn't easy. It confronts us with all kinds of challenges, whether in our personal lives, families, relationships, histories, society, or in our professions. So how can we learn to hold our ground amidst it all? Or yet, regain our ground if it has fallen away from underneath us?

Speaking about it to someone trustworthy and neutral can be a first step. Going on a personal journey with the help of a professional by one's side - who will not only listen to us with understanding, unconditional acceptance, human warmth, and empathy; but who can teach us the tools to help us find strength, wisdom, resilience, and stability within our very own body and mind, so that we can hold our ground and keep going, now and in the future - can be key to changing our lives for the better.

On the basis of the confluence of western psychotherapy and modern neuroscientific understanding, somatic trauma therapy, ecopsychology and nature-based approaches, as well as the wisdom of Buddhist psychology and mind training - I offer counseling and therapy to individuals (online from wherever you are) and give trainings and courses for professionals, groups, and organizations globally.

Whether in a group setting, one-on-one, or through a professional training at your workplace - I can guide and accompany you in finding an anchor amid the storms and challenges of life, inside the basic clarity, calm, and freedom of your own mind.

Present, embodied, and awake to the ever-shifting, vibrantly alive world around us, we find our ground and belonging in the natural ebb and flow of life.

ABOUT

me and my work

Licensed Psychological Counselor (under the German Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie law), Humanitarian & Social Worker

Certified Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher

I have spent my career caring for and meeting with those most in need -  from war refugees and trauma survivors to teenagers and adults with diverse mental health challenges and life crises. My passion is being there for others, with warmth, non-judgementalness, openness, honesty, empathy and humor. My personal meditation practice and lifelong Buddhist training has provided a deep anchor throughout my life and taught me profound practical skills to handle and face the inevitable ups and downs of this wild adventure called life. It has taught me courage, gentleness, authenticity (towards myself and others), the harsh truth of impermanence (and how to grapple with it), an ability to perceive beauty and utmost awe towards this world, it's wilderness and myriad creatures, and also a deep compassion and appreciation for us - fallible imperfect human beings. Most importantly it has taught me access to an inner freedom and belonging always available to me (if only I dare be awake enough to realize it).

I believe we all can find this refuge inside ourselves, in our hearts and minds, a place to fall back on when everything is in turmoil.

INVITATION

a poem by  Mary Oliver

Oh do you have time
to linger
for just a little while

out of your busy

and very important day

for the goldfinches
that have gathered
in a field of thistles

for a musical battle,

to see who can sing
the highest note,
or the lowest,

or the most expressive of mirth,
or the most tender?

Their strong, blunt beaks
drink the air

as they strive
melodiously
not for your sake

and not for mine

and not for the sake of winning
but for sheer delight and gratitude—
believe us, they say,

it is a serious thing

just to be alive
on this fresh morning
in this broken world.

I beg of you,

do not walk by
without pausing
to attend to this
rather ridiculous performance.

It could mean something.
It could mean everything.
It could be what Rilke meant,

when he wrote:
You must change your life.
